This Week’s Pulp Purchase: Brenda Starr, “Girl Reporter”

Nitro’s Note: These pages are illustrations from Dale Messick’s 1943 novelization of her groundbreaking comic strip, Brenda Starr, Girl Reporter. Which is, evidently, not a reporter focused on  issues of female childhood, but in fact a reporter who happens to be a woman, go figure.

Except when she’s Pesky.

Intriguing dress design! Like a Chinese finger trap from sea-world.

LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT SWEAT! Looks like Dale Messick used a brush for her ink work instead of a pen. Interesting! Expressive!

This is my favorite picture in the whole book.
